Tinchy Stryder (real name Kwasi Danquah) is a British grime music artist born June 10, 1987.
Stryder hails from Bow in East London and is currently enrolled as a student at the local university for a BA Honours degree in Moving Image and Animation.
Stryder first started writing lyrics at the young age of 9 when his younger half-sisters Magano Mutepua and Milade Adenekan was born. He is quoted as saying “as soon as I saw their beautiful gleaming eyes, it made me think about life in a whole different perception and I decided that I wanted to do something decent with my life and change other peoples”.
He became prominent in the underground scene after constantly appearing on pirate radio and performing live shows with Wiley and Dizzee Rascal, who were prominent figures in grime at the time.
Stryder received a financial boost around this time when liberal Democrat Member of Parliament Norman Lamb remortgaged his house to raise funds to chart Stryder’s first songs. Lamb’s son Archie is Stryder’s producer.
