Daniel Kaluuya is an English actor and writer. The 19-year-old Kaluuya trained at the acclaimed Anna Scher school in London, and is best known for playing the posh black teenager trying to be street-smart in Channel 4’s cult teen series Skins.
Only eighteen when he wrote his very first full episode, Daniel is the show’s youngest writer.
His previous roles include that of Reece in the BBC’s controversial drama, Shoot the Messenger.
In 2008 he appeared as a guest star in the second series of “That Mitchell And Webb Look” in the “Dancing Speedo” sketch.
On 14 July 2009, Daniel and close friend Jason Lewis (who is also an actor/writer), released a video of themselves performing their parody of Boy Better Know’s “Too Many Man“. The song is titled “Too Many Weave” and is based upon the fact that they think there are too many women with fake hair (hair extensions) these days. The video was in youtube’s Most Viewed for the 14th, 15th and 16th of July.
He is also making his feature debut in Ruby Films psychological thriller Chatroom, directed by Hideo Nakata and starring Aaron Johnson and Matthew Beard. Kaluuya also writes, with several episodes of Skins under his belt, and he is working on a TV series. “Acting and writing complement each other,” he says, “I’m very lucky that I can do both.”
