Stacey Dooley – Charity Worker and Campaigner

Stacey DooleyTwo years ago, Stacey Dooley was working on the perfume counter at Luton Airport. Then she took part in the BBC3 series Blood, Sweat And T-Shirts which sent a group of fashion-conscious young Brits to work in India’s sweatshop garment industry.

Back home she reinvented herself as a campaigner and charity worker and producers invited her to front two more forays into the unethical, the unfair and the under-privileged.

Her natural reactions – a mixture of tears and outrage – are exactly what you’d expect. Stacey’s perfect for BBC3’s target audience: young, pretty, soft-hearted and intelligent but not swotty – even if the root of the problem runs too deep for her to untangle alone.

I just watched the blood sweat and t shirts series on SBS in Australia and out of all of the people on the show this girl just gets it! The others seemed to make some progress in being less selfish but Stacey actually realised that you cant just go home and be the same, you need to make a change. I finished watching this series having a lot of admiration for her outlook on life.
